I got a little creative and inspired to try my hand at stenciling after seeing different ladies do so many creative things with the stencils in our new catalog. I am a stamper first and foremost, and this is a little different twist to my usual methods, but I found stenciling to be very EASY and FUN!
I used two different shades of brown acrylic paint to paint this swirly design. I taped the Flourish stencil onto the bag using stencil tape, and then used a stiff stencil brush to add paint to the canvas. After letting it dry, I then glued on some retired pink and blue felt flowers with brads added to the centers.
Then my Big Shot came into play. I used Heat-n-Bond on my fabric that I was going to use, and then cut out the letters using my Big Shot, and then ironed them onto the bag- and ta-da! A really, really cute little bag! I like to stick magazines, books etc. in a little bag to keep in my car for when I get an extra minute to read. So this bag will be perfect for that. Here is a little closeup shot.
If you haven't tried the stencils out yet, you really need to give them a try, it is just so much fun, and the amazing thing is you can use them just about anywhere paint will stick!
You will find all the different stencils in the new Decor Elements mini catalog, or online at my website.
