Here For You

I just found out that a friend of mine had a terrible day at work this week, and being as she just started this new job, I wanted her to know I am there for her.  So I made this card with her in mind, and will be sending it to her today. 

 

I've been having fun with the little library clips lately, and they are showing up quite often on my cards now!  It adds that extra special touch.  I also paper pierced on the strip of blue, scalloped the edge of the Soft Suede, and used my markers to color the bird. The edges of the white c/s piece were also roughed up using the Cutter Kit scoring tool as well - a handy-dandy little tool to have around!

Well, it's off to get my work done for today and then errands to run, and then our last night of VBS is tonight, so it will be a busy day!  Hope to see you around here soon - looks like my "mojo" is slowing reviving - thank goodness! Have a great Friday and weekend everyone!

Card Collage

I did find time last week to stamp for an hour or so but haven't gotten around to posting what I stamped.  So I have several cards to share with you today using a variety of stamp sets and colors.  I am getting excited about my upcoming Open House on August 8 at 4 p.m. If you live in the Georgetown, TX area, I would love for you to come! This card was made using the Wings of Friendship stamp set - which is a hostess set, level 2. I sponged the edges with Soft Suuede and then stamped using the swirly stamp in that same set. 

 

Another card with the same colors, Bordering Blue, Soft Suede, and White.  Added a touch of Soft Suede ribbon to this simple card.

 

This stamp set is with the Circle Circus stamp set. I used Old Old Olive, Soft Suede, and Crushed Curry to stamp the circles.  Added a special touch with the library clip in the corner, and a brown  corduroy button.

I have some more cards to share, but I'll  save those for another day :)  Our church is having VBS this week, and it has been a lot of fun, so lots going on!

A little update...

 

This has been a busy summer in many ways!!  I know I haven't been posting as often as I have in the past, and that has in part been due to the fact that I just haven't had time to stamp - sad I know! But we've also spent some time together as a family, which is the most important thing to me.  We've gone camping at the river, and spent time with both our familes and then last weekend we went to the beach - woohoo! We stopped in at the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi, and took a tour of the ship.  Wow - that was really amazing being on a ship like that where sailors gave their lives for our country! The ship took several hits, but managed to survive them all.  If you ever get a chance to visit Corpus Christi, this museum is one you don't want to miss! 

We then stayed in Port Aransas for a couple of nights out on the Gulf of Mexico.  It was HOT!! We had to go buy a canopy - like most everyone else out on the beach - I tell you - you could almost fry chicken out there on the concrete! And you sure wouldn't need no fire to roast a marshmallow - it would just melt LOL!

Kids had a blast playing in the sand, I think that they enjoy playing in the sand as much as splashing in the waves!

 

A picture of Dan and I after a full day in the sun - it was wonderful! It was a great relaxing weekend, and back to the daily grind on Monday though!!  I had to take my typing work with me, which kind of was a bummer, but if you're gonna play, I guess you have to work to pay for it :) It was a nice getaway though, and my kids had a blast too. 

While we were gone, my dear friend, Robin kept our dog for us, and that meant a lot to us too - not to have to worry about him being out in the heat.  So I wanted to let her know I appreciated her.  I bought her a shell windchime while we were there, but I also wanted to make her something hand made from me as a thank you.

 

This little guy was inspired from page 57 of the catalog.  This is a giant clothespin that you can get at Hobby Lobby or Michaels.   I covered the clothespin with paper, that new wonderful delicious Razzleberry Lemonade paper! I stamped him on white cardstock, Soft Suade, and on the yellow paper from the DSP Razzleberry Lemonade, and then paper pieced him together.  He is holding a yummy looking cupcake that I colored in with the new IN COLOR MARKERS ... yeah!

This little guy can be a recipe card holder, but I thought it would be really neat to make scripture cards for him to hold.  So that is what I did.  I printed out some favorite scriptures for him to hold.  My friend, Robin just took a new job which will be a little more stressful, and I thought that some scriptures to remind her through the day of God's blessings and promises would be special to her. 

 

And this is the card I made her.  I used the stamp set Animal Stories for this card as well as Inspired by Nature. 

I'm giving the gift to her tonight, I think she'll like it.  I want her to know how much I appreciate her friendship and thoughtfulness in so many ways :)

Bleaching and In Colors

 

I made quite a few cards with the bleaching technique, and here is a different spin with them. I used the new stamp set Kind and Caring Thoughts Hostess Level 3 set with this card.  i stamped the flower once with bleach on Sahara Sand, and then with regular ink for the other three flowers.  Added a strip of ribbon, and some DSP. 

Hope everyone had a fun and safe Fourth!  We enjoyed the beautiful fireworks and spent time with family and friends.  It looks like we might get some rain here !! SOO hoping for that!!  Have a great Monday everyone!

HAPPY JULY 4TH!

 

Some of you may remember this card that I created several years ago, but since I haven't had time to stamp much lately, I pulled this one out of the archives to share again with you.  I believe this card originated from a sketch posted on SCS.  It looks like such a fun card, that I need to try my hand at it again!! 

I hope each and everyone of you have a safe and happy 4th celebrating the wonderful country that we live in!!!  I never want to be unthankful for all the freedoms we enjoy!! We are truly a blessed country and people. 

Hostess Set Level 2 Wings of Friendship

 

Well, I finally broke out the new catalog stuff and had some time to play last night.  This is a Level 2 hostess set that spoke to me right away as soon as I saw it in the new catalog.  Ooh it was so much fun to work with too!  Here's the technique I used, bleaching.  Yes! It is so easy and creats awesome results.  I stamped first on the Sahara Sand with the stamp set, then colored it in with watercolor crayons and then used my aquapainter to smooth the colors out.  I then stamped over the image again with the new In Color Soft Suede. I was pretty pleased with how this card turned out, and with the "mojo" starting to flow, I went on to create this card.

Here is the bleaching technique used again.  It works best on dark colored cardstock.  I used my watercolor pencils and aquapainter to spread a little bit of color on the flowers and added a little ribbon and some new RazzleDazzle Designer Series paper to make this card.  The sentiment came from the new stamp set in the catty, which I love - it has really EVERY sentiment you might possibly need - Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I can see this stamp set getting a ton of use!
